UMUTUZO LODGE

Umutuzo lodge is, above all other aspects, a space dedicated to serenity in Rwanda.

Still under construction, the project should be completed by November 2024.
Even if everything is done to minimize the impact,

it is very likely that you will encounter workers and hear certain construction-related noises.

Umutuzo lodge project, it is a human, ecological and philanthropic project.
 

Human: Located in the district of Rutsiro, Umutuzo lodge aims to provide employment to the local community during its construction phase and create sustainable jobs during its operation.

Ecological: More than 90% of the materials are natural (wood, lava stones, thatch, traditional bricks, ...)

and come from less than 50 kms.

Water management allows flow separation.
A flow of clean water for sinks and showers
A flow of water from rain or from the lake Kivu for the toilets.

A vegetable garden (1500 m2) provides organically grown vegetables and fruits to the restaurant's kitchen.
Surpluses are distributed, free of charge, to the local community.
A small farm with different kinds of local animals (cows, goats, chicken, pigs, rabbits, ...) will supply the restaurant's kitchen. 
 
Philanthropic: Part of the turnover will be used to help the local community (Boneza sector) in the education, health and environment sectors.

Each place, especially the lodges and the restaurant,

are thought out and designed to allow guests to feel a spirit of serenity.
